Wonderful "Friends" I Have

Eight years ago I went to a week long study program in Cincinnati Ohio. All of us expressed the hope we would stay in touch. SOme of us went back there seven years ago and a handful of us attended a different program there some six years ago.

Through the wonders of 'cyberspace' we have kept in touch. We were from both Canada and the United States. OUr listserv (on yahoo) hasn't always been that active but every so often something is put on the listserv which brings out wonderful sentiments.

A few days ago I shared the latest update on my health situation.. the radial surgery on June 26. WOW .. did I get messages of support from all over the place.. from Indianapolis, Baltimore, Visalia California to name a few. All messages were extremely touching...they showed what friendship (even if primarily in cyberspace) can really mean. I am extremely gratified by these messages of love and support....

have done and will do lots of reading about this upcoming radial surgery procedure....fascinating if occasionally upsetting stuff....

have prerequisite blood work and MRI about a week or so ahead of time...

meanwhile.. I see our governing federal party has started again using American style attack ads.. really hope they backfire....

Got call the other day telling me radial surgery is Friday June 26th...looking forward to it with mixed anticipation.. on the one hand the procedure offers complete 'relief' from periodic numbness/tingling in left hand..on the other hand side effects may be annoying and a bit frightening... but have been assured medication can control/reduce unwanted side effects...

On balance glad it is earlier rather than later.....

Demonization Continues on Talk Radio

I hear our r/w talk show hosts still demonizing newcomers to Canada. Gee I hope we can all express our concerns about this the next time that station's licence comes up for renewal.

heard today that MRI which will precede day long radial surgery procedure is set for June 17 early in evening... things happening..

feel good just about 100%...slight chance of side effects of procedure but have been assured they are easily treatable...here's hoping ((:-))

Our Heath Care System Does Work

YOu know we hear lots of folks complaining about our health care system. But today I was exposed to a part that works quite well. I had a precautionary procedure for the third time in my life. Getting ready for it (had to have a liquid only diet for 24 hours) was the most difficult.

But it was scheduled very early in the morning and it went right as planned...we should not avoid precautionary procedures no matter how uncomfortable we may feel discussing them...
