Reflections on this Past Week

Well this past week was ordinary until a little after 8 AM on Wednesday morning. I got a phone call advising me our son-in-law, aged (only) 47 - had passed away.

Many readers of this blog know the story behind our son-in-law. His health turned bad in January 2010 when he was diagnosed with colon cancer. June 2010 surgery helped a bit but did not remove all of the tumour.

His condition was 'up and down' through much of the fall but deteriorated rapidly the last few weeks.

As executors for his estate we have had to all the usual things when a person passes away. Dealing with family, friends, funeral company.. all keep us on our 'toes'.

We only got to know our son-in-law about ten years ago. He and our late daughter married in May 2002 and became parents on the last day of that year. Gerald was a quiet guy most of the time. But he did make an impression on all who knew him...he will be missed by me and many other people. I certainly believe his memory will be blessing for me and all who knew him.
